Here we are…

As any good millennial, I’m out here trying to make something of myself. I decided that the best way for me to cope with a pandemic while working as a domestic violence advocate, dealing with different layers of grief, and living with unstable housemates was to write about it. Writing and storytelling was always a way for me to not only connect with myself and my history but also with my community. I’ve challenged myself to use this space to write stories about my everyday encounters with friends, family, housemates, first dates, co-workers, strangers, and pretty anyone who finds themselves in a 150 ft radius of me. So thanks for being on my little corner of the world wide web. I hope that through these stories, you’ll laugh or maybe cry, and see that we as humans are complicated, but we are not alone in our fuck-ups.

So a little about me, as you’ve already encountered with my banner on my home page, I’m a 29-year- old single Slavic woman. I came to America as a refugee when I was on the cusp of turning three years old. I don’t exactly remember the early days in America, but the stories I’ve collected from my parents and community, shed light on the deep pains of being displaced and other. I grew up on the east coast before moving to the best coast. I hold a master’s degree from the high and mighty towers of Duke University. I currently reside in Portland Oregon where I play the flute, drink too much coffee, eat all the gluten-free donuts, and occasionally make an appearance at Powell’s on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
